Rarely was I at a 4/5 bar connection. Cons: This little thing somehow 'died', would connect to my router but wouldn't allow internet access. A bit before, and after, if I move it in/out of a USB 3.0 slot I'll get a Blue Screen of Death. It was well worth it 2-3 years ago when I bought it in-store at a Best-Buy, but now it absolute garbage. I've had at Least 15 Blue Screens from it, trying to see if it was a specific slot or what. Doesn't work in any computer I have. There are much better wireless ethernet adapters on the market. Skip this one. Other Thoughts: As I said, it's not exactly reliable. Not worth the money. I got a $20 TP Link wireless ethernet adapter that holds a strong 5 bar connection with an extra 150mb/s download speed. Pros: Works in Windows 7, Ubuntu, and openSuse. The signal isn't that much weaker than another nic with external antenna, but I wouldn't wanna put it behind the computer. Cons: The router that supposedly pairs with this nic is garbage. You'll do better just using a linksys G router. That's not the NIC's fault though. Other Thoughts: The matching router for this nic (F6D4230-4 V2) is a piece of garbage. It was constantly freezing, having to be reset. I've since gotten a linksys router that's rock solid and works great with this NIC. Opensuse, must install package 'kernel-firmware' to make this work. No big deal, other than needing a wired nic to install it. Pros: Works well and has great signal when it is working. Very easy to install the included software. Cons: This wireless adapter has a bad habit of randomly dropping wireless signal for periods of time, while my laptop has absolutely no problems receiving wireless signal during those same times. Restarting the modem and router did not solve this problem, and restarting the desktop this adapter was connected to sometimes fixed the issue. Other Thoughts: Belkin's customer service is typical in that most or all of its employees are foreign and don't understand half the things you say. I spent over 30 minutes on the phone with one CSR from Belkin and got as far as establishing that 'Yes, maam, my network settings say that this wireless connection is not connected.' Most people say they like this product, so it is possible that I received a 'bad egg' I assume. I'm taking it back to Best Buy right after I finish typing this.
